TEES 4 PALESTINE

TEES 4 PALESTINE

If you’ve landed on our page, you’ve probably been sent a t-shirt by a friend. Welcome.

I am not a politician. I am not a professional activist. I am not a Middle East historian. And I claim no subject expertise. But I am a humanitarian. And that is surely all that is required to recognise that the situation in Palestine is an entirely preventable humanitarian catastrophe.

I cannot begin to understand what kind of unholy lobby it is that could convince the political class to spend all day telling us black is white, when we can see what is happening with our own eyes, if we choose not to look away.

I live in Brisbane, Australia. Walking the streets here, you would not know that a genocide is happening. It’s unbelievable – has nobody noticed? What could possibly be more important than the fact that humanity has malfunctioned in such a catastrophic way?

Yet, in the lead up to the recent federal election, I was sent a templated email by a Palestinian activist organisation, and encouraged to forward it to all the candidates, which I did. It asked each candidate to clarify their positions on Palestine. I received a detailed reply from all but two candidates. I voted accordingly. It made me realise that people ARE thinking about it. Some people are ACTIVE about it. But, between marches, it’s just not evident. What about if we all wore Palestinian solidarity t-shirts? Then we’d know that people DID care. We’d know that we were not alone in having noticed humanity’s catastrophic malfunction.

When you wear a Palestinian solidarity t-shirt, you encourage interaction. People say “Nice t-shirt!”. People say “Thank you. I am Palestinian.” Others will say “It’s inappropriate to wear that here” or “If you care so much about it, why don’t you really do something?”. The tide is turning. It is now impossible to argue rationally that Israel is not committing a genocide. All that’s left is legalese, obfuscation, ignorance, delusion and, of course, politics.

We have to believe that there exists a tipping point, beyond which democratic governments will be forced to act. There’s some serious arse-covering now happening in the media and amongst politicians. They fear a reckoning is coming. It must. Let’s get in their face and tell them there is no escape from the humanitarians. And they’re wearing t-shirts!

Got my T-Shirt!

Now What?

Here at tees4palestine, we believe in the powers of 5. So we’d like you to contact 5 friends. Five friends, who are prepared to show their solidarity with the people of Palestine. Ask them to choose a t-shirt from the links below, or from any other supplier you source. Or just design and make one yourself – we don’t care, as long as it shows its support for the cause. Buy and send them to your friends as soon as you can. The sooner they arrive, the sooner the powers of 5 can work their magic. Tell your friends that they will then pass on the baton and contact five of their friends. Send them each a message or email – you can use our template if you want to save time. When their t-shirt arrives, they simply need to use the QR code to arrive here on our landing page, as you just did.

If you’re really keen, you might want to tag us #tees4palestine with photos of you in your tees. And hopefully one day soon, by the powers of 5, you might be able to snap someone else wearing one!

Thanks for your solidarity.

Subject: Tees 4 Palestine
Dear friend,

Thanks for agreeing to receive a t-shirt in the name of Palestine. Please wear it when you can, to show your solidarity with the cause of the Palestinian people, and to remind others around you that there are many, who are moving together towards what we hope is the tipping point, beyond which democratic governments will be forced to act in their defence.

When it arrives, please use the QR code to take you to the tees4palestine.org site to confirm you got your t-shirt.

In solidarity.
